Sound Production NC level 6, delivered at our sector-leading
facilities in CRE:8 at our Milton Road campus is an innovative course designed
to develop your creative and technical knowledge and skills in all areas of
sound production with a particular focus on enabling progressing onto our
flagship HND Sound Production programme. You will explore all areas of
sound production including recording and production, audio for multi-media,
sound design, live sound, electronic music, post-production, and technical support
areas of sound engineering. You will learn the essentials of sound production
including setting up the studio for a recording session, microphone placement,
multitrack recording and mixing as well as a creative production techniques.
You will learn how to use professional music software and
develop diverse skills. You will be taught by highly qualified, industry
accredited lecturers and learn about all aspects of the music and sound
production industry. The course prepares you for further study of music and
sound production at a higher level and has excellent progression opportunities.
Through these intermediate classes you will gain an understanding of what it
takes to progress onto the HND in Sound Production towards a rewarding career
in this competitive industry. You will engage in studio practice and
professional practice in recording, mixing, live sound, sound design, audio
engineering and digital DJing.
- Two qualifications at SCQF Level 5 preferably in
Music, Media or Computing
- You should have core skills at SCQF Level 4

How the course is assessed

The course is mainly project based.
You will be assessed continuously through a range of projects, performances and
portfolio work.
All applicants will be interviewed.
You will be asked to bring a short portfolio of your work.

Ruairidh Saunders started Edinburgh College after having a
