This is a 6-month course (from August to January) and is
ideal if you are looking to start your career within the
Hospitality/Cookery Industry – it will give you the opportunity to try out both
Cookery and Front of House operations before deciding on your career path.
The course will introduce you to a variety of techniques
needed to work in a professional kitchen and front of house – you will develop
your skills in areas such as:
- cooking skills
- kitchen skills
- food hygiene
- team working
- Healthy eating and nutrition
- How to handle and operate kitchen equipment
- Health and safety within a kitchen environment
- Cookery processes
- Dealing with customers
- Team working
- Barista skills
- Units in the framework
There is no
mandatory work placement on this course but you are encouraged to seek work
within the industry to enhance your skills and confidence.
There
are no formal entry requirements for this course but you must be able to work
at SCQF Level 3, have an interest in working within the hospitality industry as
well as being able to demonstrate good communication skills.
