Course Overview

The aim of this 6-month course is to introduce learners to the hospitality industry and to explore the scope of the industry, mapping out career paths and vital employability skills required for a job role within the Hospitality industry. This course is aimed at returners to education who are looking to upskill or learn new skills that will add to existing qualifications as well as new entrants looking to start a career within the Hospitality industry.

This course is a foundation to progress to the HNC/D Hospitality full time courses at Edinburgh College or employment.

The majority of our courses will be delivered online only for the beginning of 2021. A limited number of courses will have classes on campus. You will be contacted by your lecturer if your course will include any face-to-face classes on campus.

Placement Information
There is no formal placement requirement for this course but you are encouraged to seek work experience within the Hospitality industry.  
Entry Requirements

It is preferable for applicants to have achieved a minimum of four National 5s:

  • One being in English at Grade 3 or above
  • And three passes at SCQF level 5


  • satisfactory completion of an appropriate NC course

If you do not hold the required entry qualifications but have experience within the hospitality industry we still welcome your application.
