Jewel & Esk College has announced the appointment of its new Principal and Chief Executive, Mandy Exley.    Currently Principal of Perth College UHI, Mandy will take up the role at Jewel & Esk College on 1st April 2010.

Mandy said:  “This is a great opportunity and I am really looking forward to getting involved in the work of the Edinburgh Colleges. Jewel & Esk has a great history and a great future and with new state of the art facilities and first class staff I am keen to get started and help shape the college’s development and its ongoing commitment to its communities.”

Tom Drake, Chair of the Board of Governors at Jewel & Esk College, Edinburgh, looked forward to welcoming Mandy into her new role. “I am delighted that Mandy is going to join Jewel & Esk as Principal and Chief Executive.  Mandy has an excellent track record in Further Education both North and South of the Border.  Her leadership skills and experience will complement the first class management team we have at the College.”

Commenting on leaving Perth College UHI, Mandy said:  “I have loved my work at Perth College UHI.  Over the last few years the College has gone from strength to strength with more than 8,000 learners enrolling with us every year. This is due in no small part to an excellent and ambitious Board of Management and staff of the College who make Perth College UHI an excellent place of learning for a wide range of different communities – local, national and international.”

Penny Brodie, Chair of the Perth College UHI Board of Management, commented: “Mandy has made an enormous contribution to the College in many ways.  For example, she was instrumental in committing to the UHI development with our partners in the Highland and Islands to create Scotland’s newest University. We wish her all the best with her new role.”

Mandy will be continuing in her current role as Principal of Perth College UHI until the end of March 2010 and begins her new job at the beginning of April in Edinburgh.
