Jewel & Esk at Knockhill's Scottish Motor Show

Jewel & Esk at Knockhill's Scottish Motor Show

A team of Automotive Engineering students from Jewel & Esk represented the College in style at the Official Scottish Motor Show held recently at Knockhill Racing Circuit.

Competing in the Pit Stop Challenge the team of budding engineers raced against other Scottish colleges to complete a wheel change in the shortest time. The team finished overall second, beating off tough competition from across Scotland and only being beaten in the final heat by a narrow margin.

Ross Milligan, from the Centre of Engineering and Clean Energy, at Jewel & Esk travelled to Knockhill with the students, “The team have done really well today and we’re all very proud of their efforts. We’ve got great facilities at Jewel & Esk and we pride ourselves on training students in a real-life working environment; being able to attend an event like the Motor Show and having the chance to compete in this way takes that to another level and adds a new dimension. Another clear benefit of bringing students to an event like the Motor Show is to expose them to new innovations in the industry. This is particularly relevant to us this year as we look to incorporating a renewables element to our motor vehicle training programme.”
