Jewel & Esk’s friendly and approachable staff across the college are here to help you, giving you the confidence, knowledge and skills to develop and succeed in your chosen career.
When you are a student at Jewel & Esk, we encourage you to express your opinions and make suggestions, both formally and informally. Student Services staff are here to help you do just that. We can make sure your suggestion gets to the right person so that the improvement you have pinpointed can help everyone. If you are unhappy with an aspect of college life, we can make sure this is raised in the right forum so that something can be done about it. And if that’s not possible, we’ll make sure someone tells you why not.
If you need some help to express your opinions, we can help with that too.
And if you’re a confident person who is happy to speak out, then why not stand as a class representative?
The Student Services team supports the work of the Students’ Association, which acts as the formal ‘Student Voice’ on college committees and the Board of Governors. Every Jewel & Esk student automatically becomes a member of the Students’ Association. The Association Committee, led by the Student President, is here to represent you. Students’ Association Executive Officers are elected each year and comprise students in the following roles:
• Vice President
• Student Activities & Events Officers
• Secretary
• Campus Representatives
• Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Officers
• Welfare Officers
If you are interested in representing other students and helping to make a difference to the college community, please think about standing for one of the roles. It will also look great on your CV!
A key part of the Student Voice is the class rep system, where each class elects a representative to take their views and opinions to the Students’ Representative Council (SRC). It is important that everyone participates in this system, as this is how we gather feedback from you about the services the college provides and how we can make things better for all of you.
